On Wednesday, October 14, Springfield Lutheran High School (SLHS) students had the opportunity to lead Chapel at Springfield Lutheran School (SLS), sharing their faith and musical gifts before spending time serving younger students in the classroom.
During Chapel, Mr. Zeigler shared a message based on Colossians 2:6–7 and Philippians 4:6–7, encouraging students to remain rooted in Christ and turn to Him in prayer.
The SLHS Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Luxton, presented a moving performance of “I Believe” by Mark A. Miller. Based on a poem written during the Holocaust, the piece offers a powerful expression of faith and hope in the midst of hardship.
SLHS students were featured as vocal and violin soloists. Mrs. Dorris provided accompaniment, and special thanks go to Caleb Staehr, Director of Parish Music at Trinity Lutheran Church, for playing piano during Chapel.
Following the service, SLHS students joined SLS third graders in their classrooms, helping them practice math and reading skills. This time together provided a meaningful opportunity for high school students to encourage younger learners, build relationships, and put their faith into action through service.
Experiences like these reflect an important part of the SLHS mission: partnering with families to form faithful disciples of Christ and accomplished scholars who joyfully serve others.
We are grateful for opportunities to strengthen our connections with Springfield Lutheran School and for the many ways our students can use their God-given gifts to bless others.
