On Thursday evening, April 23, students, parents, staff, and friends of SLHS gathered in the school gym to enjoy a student play production.
With bated breath, the curtains opened, and the students revealed the “Big Secret” that they had done a wonderful job of concealing for the last few months. Students have been working hard with Mrs. Luxton on a play, which was kept secret until they presented it.
At intermission, ALL was revealed that was shrouded in mystery. The students presented selections from “Parody This!” by Patrick Greene, Brendan Main, and Jason Pizzarello. The 2026 Spring Play opened with “Our Town Doesn’t Have a Fourth Wall” with Ben Koenig, Aria Yoo, and Milo Lehman. Following the parody of “Our Town,” Aria brought a lot of laughs with her “Twelve Angry Men, a One-Woman Show,” assisted by Micah Bolte, Milo, and Noah Driessner. The “Dueling Narrators” of Ben and Noah introduced the Intermission break.
Act Two began with our dueling narrators, assisted by Micah playing an audience member. The next parody by Milo, Noah, Aria, and Ben was called “Wickeds,” of course, a parody of “Wicked.”
The closing of “Do You Hear the People Sing?”....oh, I mean “...Laugh?” brought the evening to rousing close. Who would have guessed our five shy students who began the school year could pull this off?! It was a superb performance!
Thanks to Mrs. Judy Luxton, the music and drama teacher at SLHS, for her expertise, extra time, and effort in producing this play. Thanks also to Carey, Karl, and Asher Bolte, for shopping and preparing dinner in addition to the intermission cookies and punch. We appreciate them stepping up to help us make this a night to remember–SLHS’s first drama event in the SLHS Lightning Theater.
