God pours out His blessings on SLHS. The gift of the deck and tables is one example. Thank you to those donors who God blessed to be a blessing. Thank you, Mr. Straw, for being the first to use this wonderful space–the perfect setting for your lesson on WWI through poetry. The lesson brought back memories of the National WW1 Museum and, oddly enough, Maynard G. Krebs and the 60’s counterculture days.

Mr. Tim Zeigler was honored Friday, May 1, by students and staff with an Amazon gift card, a principal’s “survival” kit filled with coffee and candy, and a card featuring a “Picasso-style caricature” of Mr. Zeigler.
The card was designed by the SLHS students and painted by Mrs. Barbara Watkins. The inside sentiment “is a great principal like Mr. Zeigler. Happy Principal’s Day.”

Carey Bolte, mother of sophomore Micah Bolte, was sworn in as Alderman of Ward III of Ozark, Missouri, last week. Carey is a dedicated public servant and a longtime Southwest Missouri resident. She holds a degree in business management and has built her career as a retail and office manager. She stayed home with her boys, Asher and Micah, until the last few years, when she worked in real estate. Deeply committed to community involvement, she has volunteered as a Master Gardener, is a member and social media manager for the Ozark Piecemaker Quilt Guild, and supports Springfield Lutheran High School. Carey brings a practical, family-focused perspective to everything she does and is grateful for the opportunity to serve her local community. SLHS is fortunate to have the Bolte family as part of our SLHS family!

SLHS students extended their learning beyond the classroom on Friday, May 1, by visiting the Wonders of Wildlife Museum and Aquarium for a second look at land and sea creatures beyond the textbook. Our thanks to tour guide Dan Lyons, Trinity member and a docent at WOW, for guiding us through and providing additional information on the exhibits. Thanks also to the Lyons for providing the students with complimentary tickets.
Following biology with Mrs. Hannah Thompson and Mrs. Barbara Watkins as the staff in charge, students enjoyed a Chick-fil-A lunch with Principal Tim Zeigler and Mrs. Dorris. The afternoon was spent in the art world at Firehouse Pottery. Students selected a piece of pottery, applied glazes, and visited the kilns where their artwork will be fired. Their artwork pieces will be ready in approximately a week, and we’ll share photos of their creations in a future newsletter.

Father in Heaven, we give You thanks and praise for loving us so much that You sent Your Son Jesus to die for us and save us from our sins. We praise and thank you for the blessings you have provided SLHS in all facets–students, staff, volunteers, and facilities. We pray You will continue to shower SLHS with students and future growth.
We pray for those in our community and throughout the world who are hurting, sick, or have other needs to be met. Lead us and guide us to be of service to others. Comfort those who are in mourning and give them peace.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
